Animation: Watch Super Typhoon Nepartak's journey from birth to dissipation

The group at Japan's National Institute of Informatics has compiled a series of images from Japan's Himawari-8 satellite, starting as Nepartak was born as a tropical depression on July 2 and recentering the focus point of each image on the center of the storm as it developed into a storm packing 175 mph winds three days later.

The result is a satellite loop that is a great illustration of how these powerful storms form and swirl into an eventual hurricane/typhoon.
