As of this morning, the 46,761 acre Frye Fire in the Pinaleño Mountains is the 15th largest in state history. Reliable wildfire records for Arizona go back to 1990.

The Frye Fire’s new size unseats last year’s 45,977 acre Cedar Fire south of Show Low.

Arizona's 14th largest wildfire on record is April’s Sawmill Fire, which was 46,991 acres. With the Frye Fire only 45% contained, it’s very likely this will jump ahead of the Sawmill Fire’s size.
